ABOUT US

The Garifuna Indigenous People of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Inc. (GIPSVG Inc.) is a New York based non-profit 501(c) (3) tax exempt, non-partisan organization with a mission aimed at the development of the communities located north of the Rabacca River, St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Indigenous communities located north of the Rabacca River are: Orange Hill, Overland, Sandy Bay, Point, Owia and Fancy. These communities form a fundamental part of the history and culture of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. As descendants of the original inhabitants to settle on St. Vincent, we are proud of the heritage handed down to us by our ancestors and wish to contribute towards its revitalization and preservation. It is for this reason we have established ourselves as a formal group that will work towards accomplishing this mission. ***

MISSION STATEMENT:  To transform the indigenous communities north of the Rabacca River through the development of its people and the successful implementation of sustainable projects geared towards the  revitalization, maintenance and preservation of the culture.

VISION STATEMENT:  To build a progressive people with a strong indigenous culture.

GOVERNANCE: The Organization was legally incorporated on February 28, 2015 as a nonprofit Company under the Laws of United States. Our membership is drawn from persons of Garifuna descent or persons married into Garifuna family. All members must pay the monthly Subscription Fee of $10.00.
