The Owia community is located on the far northeastern coast of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, at least a two-hour drive from capital Kingstown. Its main attraction is Salt Pond, a natural saltwater pool formed by the repeated and heavy hitting ocean waves over a barrier reef of lava rocks and ridges. Owia is the home of many descendants of the Island's indigenous people, as well as the home of the Owia Arrowroot Processing Factory. Arrowroot is known as a crop famously used by the indigenous people to make "madungo".
